Home Sweet Pithos
Some people are often confronted with the reality that there is nothing they can do to change or alter the outcome of their situation. This is where contempt and frustration are born. Diogenes was the father of the philosophy of Cynicism, His view of the world is one shared by many today, what with institutionalized society, constantly directing the lives of millions through a corporate system of thievery, run by the banking industry.
People around the globe are forced to work for slave wages, indoctrinate their children through the systems very flawed educational system, and force them to hand over most of their wages just to have shelter and basic comfort.
Mortgages are translated as "Death Pledges" so, for 30-50 years of your remaining life, you are indebted to the banks for your living arrangements.
Diogenes chose to despise the banking system, he hated money, and on an account, was exiled for defacing currency. He lived in a large Pithos, or clay pot, turned no its side. He begged for sustenance, and was often found in the streets looking for an "Honest man"
The downfall of modern society is the disregard for those less fortunate, and the godly praise of those who have it all. Have you ever wondered where all that mortgage and rent money goes? Yes some landlords collect it and amass fortunes, but even they have to render unto Ceasar for those properties. Eveyone you can see up and down your block, or on your street is paying some bank, just to live.
It is barbaric and cruel to support such an unparalleled system of greed. The question remains, how much room do you need? I guarantee most people live within a twenty by twenty space, and even if they have more, it's rarely used. Housing, utilities, and food should be basic human rights, otherwise the result is a populace of angry brooding Cynics, just like Diogenes.
