The Disparity of Christianity in a Capitalist society

Today’s capitalist society is antithetical to any semblance of Christianity. People whose only concern is to aquire more and more while others around them suffer, are not following the teachings of Jesus Christ. He said that it was easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of Heaven.  He slso told a rich man to sell everything he had, give it to the poor, then pick up his cross and follow him. I was written that this troubled the rich man greatly.

The truth is that to be a true Christian is to be in service, something that is sorely lacking in todays communities.  I see so many homeless,  begging on corners in Salt Lake City, a supposed hub of the "Church of Jesus Christ, of the Latter Day Saints" but the only thing I have experienced here, is pure,  unadulterated greed. While billions are being spent globally to build opulent temples, adorned with golden angels,  thousands are camping in tents in this fridged high desert tonight. It is a testament to the opposition of Jesus teaching.

Daily even after two years of a decimating pandemic, elderly are being evicted by greedy landlords who can only see profit over people. When is enough enough? "Mortgages" if you break down the word, means "Death Pledge" which works out to thirty to fourty, sometimes fifty years paying a bank just to have a place to live. Miss just a few payments after paying twenty years and they will forclose, leaving the indebted homeowner with bad credit, making it nearly impossible to ever buy a home again. These moneychangers are ruthless, and if you've read the bible, you might remember Christs reaction to the moneychangers in the temple, to say the least its the only time I can recall when the "Man of Peace" went off. He turned over the tables and ran them out.

The Mormon Church has what's called "fast offerings" where members are called upon to give. Usually for building repair or upkeep,  but never for the unbelievers in the community that  have fallen on hard times. This is in addition to the already 10% of income, required of members. In addition they run what's called Deseret Industries, where many mormons are employed and taxed (unlike the church) their thrift stores operate on 100% free and clear donated goods, sold at a profit. There are 46 outlets in California, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Texas, and Washington state. Between capital holdings and land ownership, these moneychangers are making a killing in and out of the temple. The mormon Churches portfolio is a multi billion dollar enterprise, comprised of cliques of sharp dressed old white guys, whose ancestors originally massacred the indigenous and stole their land.

Racism also played a part in the church since the mid 1800's, it  wasn't until 1978 that black people were finally permitted to join the lay priesthood, because the Churches founder Joseph Smith, and also Brigham Young, claimed that blacks and indigenous were inferior, proclaiming that they were from the line of Cain. Church leader Ezra Taft Benson, was the 15th United States secretary of Agriculture, under Eisenhower,  and the 13th president of the Mormon church from 1985-1994. He vehemently opposed the Civil Rights movement. Today the church is full of MAGA hat wearing members, who  are only concerned with border security and immigration. Utah's Governor Mike Lee, is a Big MAGA supporter, and a "devout" Mormon.

They should read the book they espouse to follow. One verse comes to mind.

"If a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt : I am the Lord your God." ~ Leviticus 19 : 33-34 KJV

While these supposed spiritual leaders continue to profit from society, they're living examples of the opposition of Jesus Christs teaching.

If he were here today, there wouldn't be an upright table in the house.
